The 3rd Trade and Business Facilitation Symposium organized by the Consulate of the Republic of Uganda in Mombasa  concluded on a high note at the Pride Inn Hotel in Mombasa on 14th August 2019.
The three (3) day Symposium which took place under the theme;  Enhancing Trade Facilitation along the Northern Corridor was officially opened by Hon. Amelia Anne Kyambadde, Minister for  Trade ,Industry and Cooperatives of the Republic of Uganda.

The Symposium brought  together participants from the Business Community from Uganda and Kenya, Senior Government officials, policy makers and political leaders, professionals, International Organizations, development partners and  media houses.

Also in attendance was Hon. Robert Kasuule Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Trade and Tourism, Hon. Hood Katuramu Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Amb. Kiema Kilonzo, Kenya's High Commissioner to Uganda, Amb. Richard Kabonero Uganda's High Commissioner to Tanzania , Uganda's Ambassador to UAE Amb. Zaake Kibedi, Uganda's Consul General to Guangzhou Amb. Solomon Rutega, Uganda's Charge D'Affaires to Qatar Amb. Simon Ajiku,  Amb. Patrick Mugoya ; Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Mr. Dickson Kateshembwa Commissioner Customs, Uganda Revenue Authority , Senior officials from Government  of Uganda , Capt. William Ruto,General Manager Operations and Harbour Master , Kenya Ports Authority,   Mr. Kevin Lewis Safari ; Commissioner , Customs and Border Control, Kenya Revenue Authority , Mr. Elema Halake ,Executive Director, Anti Counterfeit Authority, representative from Kenya Railways as well as officials from  organisations such as ; Trademark East Africa, Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority, Port Management Association of Eastern & Southern Africa among others.

The symposium had interactive plenary sessions and presentations from  Government officials and other stakeholders involved in the trade value chain. The symposium was closed by the Chairman , Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs who commended the Consulate  for organising the successful  symposium which aimed at  promoting commercial and economic diplomacy.
